Make Music Chicago in McKinley Park

The McKinley Park Advisory Council presents performances for Make Music Chicago from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Rd., Chicago.

Make Music Chicago is a citywide, do-it-yourself music festival that gives any and every type of musician a chance to perform for the community. The McKinley Park Advisory Council is sponsoring three stages for the event: in the east veranda of the field house, at the playground and at the William McKinley monument. 

So far, multiple performances are set for three locations in the park:

McKinley Park Playground

  • 5 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.: The TEANEVA singing duo of Tea (13) and Eva (12) share their passion of singing 
  • 5:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: A Flor de Piel performs Mexican music for the kids
  • 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: The Lucky Trikes provide music and storytelling
  • 7:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.: A performance by the 168 Fitness Team, to include Chinese line dancing

McKinley Park Monument

  • 5pm - 6pm:  The Greenleaf Band, Bluegrass 
  • 6:15 p.m. - 7 p.m.: Harmonica master Joe Filisko leads a harmonica workshop, with harmonicas provided to the first 100 attendees
  • 7:15pm - 8:00pm: Celebrate International Yoga Day with Celia! Bring your mat or beach towel for an evening of stretching and breathing.

The event is free, and all members of the community are invited to attend. In addition, local musicians who sign up to perform can do so on Make Music Chicago's registration page.

The McKinley Park Advisory Council is seeking volunteers to help with this event. Have fun and help out while meeting community members and participating musicians. Volunteers are needed from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for tasks including table and chairs setup, load-in and load-out for musicians, assistance with dissemenating materials and more.
