Friends of the Chicago River is hosting citywide cleanup events for Chicago River Day 2019, including at the McKinley Park neighborhood's eastern border of the South Branch of the Chicago River, also known as Bubbly Creek.

Join team leader Jim McBride and other volunteers from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Crystal Windows & Doors, 1300 W. 35th St., Chicago, to help beautify the river, collect garbage to sort for recycling, remove invasive vegetation, spruce up river-edge trails and plant native seedlings. Volunteers will receive a free Chicago River Day t-shirt as a thank-you gift.

Advance registration prior to May 5, 2017, is requested for this event, and volunteers can sign up at the Eventbrite page set up for this event. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear closed toe shoes and work clothes that can get dirty. For more information, visit the Friends of the Chicago River Day FAQ page.
