News and events for Chicago's McKinley Park neighborhood

MSI Science Club

From Saturday, October 22, 2016 10:30 am until 12:30 pm

Calling all young scientists! The Museum of Science and Industry and the ScienceConnections program present five weeks of sessions focused on the science of toys. For five Saturdays beginning Oct. 22, 2016, the MSI After School Science Club will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library, 1915 W. 35th St., Chicago. The program then concludes with a field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.

The activity at each meeting is focused on a classic toy that works according to core science concepts. Students will have the opportunity to explore light by making a kaleidoscope, investigate air pressure and flight with helicopter toys, study the spin of tops and gears and participate in other fun learning activities.

This program is best suited for children in grades 3 to 6, and participation in all five sessions is highly encouraged. Children who participate in the program will become eligible to attend the Dec. 3 field trip.
