Enjoy a day in the open air and a night under the stars at the Family Campout in McKinley Park, from 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, to 10 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2020, in McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Road, Chicago.

Part of the Chicago Park District's Camping in the Parks program, the campout is designed with novice campers in mind and includes staff assistance with campsite setup. Tents will be provided by the Chicago Park District, with up to six family members, including at least one child and one adult, able to stay at each campsite.

Other activities will include scavenger hunts, guided nature hikes, fishing, lawn games and a campfire dinner with hot dogs and s'mores. (Participating families can also bring a side dish to share.) Park staff will be on-site all night for service and security, and the event ends the next morning with a light breakfast and checkout by 10 a.m.

Registration costs $50 and is avaialble starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020, in-person or online at the Chicago Park District web page for this event.
