Sled Hockey Expo

Learn to play the Paralympic sport sled hockey at the Sled Hockey Expo, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at the McKinley Park ice rink, 3801 S. Western Boulevard, Chicago. For ages 13 and older, the Sled Hockey Expo is an opportunity to learn how to play the Paralympic sport from coaches and players from the Chicago Blackhawks Sled Hockey team.

Sled hockey is a sport designed for individuals with a primary physical disability, and follows most of the typical ice hockey rules with the exception of the equipment. Players sit in specially designed sleds that sit on top of two hockey skate blades. Each player has two sticks that have metal picks on the bottom so players can propel themselves.
