Vermicomposting with Plant Chicago
Kids 9 and up are invited to learn about composting with worms at Vermicomposting with Plant Chicago, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2016, at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library, 1915 W. 35th St., Chicago.
Presented by Plant Chicago, this workshop aims to give students a basic understanding of what composting is, the importance of composting and what we can compost using worms. Roughly ⅓ of the United State's landfill waste is organic material (food waste) that may be redirected using composting methods, back into soil.
Kids may also attend this program to complete the create/discover requirement of the Winter Reading Program.
