Beginning at the 35th/Archer Orange Line El stop, the tour will cover the history, landmarks and towering structures of a neighborhood that's long been responsible for much of the city's bricks, iron, meat, furniture and Goodyear Tires — while also housing an ever-changing, diverse immigrant population. It will include humble homes, towering manufacturing supercenters, churches, schools and parks, and explore McKinley Park's unique stamp on Chicago's magnificent blue collar history. The afternoon will end at the Huck Finn Restaurant at 3414 S. Archer Ave.
The tour is offered on a "pay-what-you-can" basis, with a suggested donation of $10 to $20 per attendee. For more information and to RSVP, see the McKinley Park Walking Tour page on the Eventbrite service.
