Teachers, Administrators, Students and Parents want to know when are the attacks on public education going to stop.  Deteriorating educational opportunities affects the health and vitality of the whole neighborhood.

How can we raise our voices to be heard?  What's going on with FBI raids and SEC charges against the local charter schools?  What are the prospects for our youth?

Hear about the innovative approaches at schools like Evergreen, Greene, Velma Thomas, Everett, and Kelly.  Each has made great strides in nurturing neighborhood youth.  Hear about best practices in LSC oversight of our schools.  Hear about the afterschool and other special programs that have successfully challenged our kids and raised scores.  The awards our schools have won.

Get the lowdown on the Gulen Movement which has a complicated history of amassing a portfolio of 140 schools in the US.  Hear documented instances of visa fraud, no bid contracting, union busting, political intrigue, and secretive administration.

Our priorities are wrong.  Favored players can get away with financial malfeasance.  Public school budgets are cut drastically.  Hardworking teachers and administrators find themselves working with fewer and fewer resources.

There is a way out.  We have to unite.  Keep a watchful eye on chances to volunteer and report charter missteps.  The next school year will come in with expanded volunteerism.  It is a sad state of affairs when schools have to hold fund raisers to buy toilet paper.

Speakers to be announced.  Sponsored by McKinley Park Progressive Alliance, Bridgeport Alliance, and the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council
