Astronomy on Marz: Enter the Singularity

Explore the mysteries of black holes and neutron stars alongside the comforts of delicious fresh brews at Astronomy on Marz: Enter the Singularity, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Marz Community Brewing Company, 3630 S. Iron St. Chicago. Fun facts about these extreme cosmic objects will spaghetti-fy your mind via two short talks accompanied by trivia.

University of Chicago graduate student Gautam Satishchandran will describe the surprising things that we know about black holes and explain how they hold the key to unlocking the deepest questions about the universe. Neutron stars will be the focus of Phil Landry, a post-doctoral student at the University of Chicago and member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. He'll expound on these super-dense cosmic leftovers and explain how ripples in spacetime can tell us what's going on inside neutron stars.
