McKinley Park Snowman Contest Offers Field House Prizes, Safe Outdoor Fun
Creative lovers of the winter outdoors should watch the forecast for snow in Chicago's McKinley Park and prep for the McKinley Park Snowman Contest, running now through Saturday, February 20, 2021.
Build your most creative snowman in McKinley Park, then share the photo on the Instagram service with the hash tag #Mckinleysnowman for a shot at a Chicago Park District fun pack at the McKinley Park field house.
The flyer for the McKinley Park Snowman Contest provides information on photo submissions and dates.The brainchild of McKinley Park Supervisor Briana Soria, the new contest rapidly received approval as a safe way to enjoy the park during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although snowmen are immune and don't need to worry about social distancing, all snow builders should follow the park's safety precautions, including mask-wearing.
Organic Materials Only
Participants should use only organic materials when building their snowman. Winners will be announced on Instagram, with info on how to collect their parks fun pack prizes.
Current snow conditions at McKinley Park offer some remaining snow on the ground, with temperatures set to rise above freezing later in the week. Long-term forecasts point toward a chance of more snow next weekend.
