Activities at McKinley Park neighborhood parks got a jump-start this week with the Chicago Park District announcement that playgrounds are now open again, thanks to falling numbers for the COVID-19 pandemic. This happy news is joined with word of active winter programs now underway at the McKinley Park field house, including a slate of new sports programs for veterans.

The veterans programming at the McKinley Park field house is new for winter 2021 and includes archery, badminton and table tennis, all taking place on Thursdays. These programs are listed along with all other veterans activities for the McKinley Park neighborhood in the new Veterans Calendar published by the McKinley Park News.

Playgrounds reopening in the McKinley Park neighborhood include those in McKinley Park, Hoyne Park, Kucinski-Murphy Park and Mulberry Playlot Park.

Safety Precautions Mandatory

"Although these restrictions are being lifted, we must continue to be diligent with the safety protocols that have been instrumental in our progress,” Kelly said.
