Street Racers Archer Hoyne 35th McKinley Park motorcycle accident 20210523A motorcyclist lies unconscious in the intersection of South Archer and South Hoyne avenues in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 23, 2021.A street cone and a road flare were placed in the middle of the intersection, and racers spun around it, watched by a large crowd, for about 20 minutes until they drove off, many filming on camera phones as they sat on cars’ windowsills.

A motorcyclist on a Harley-style bike was engaged in a crash in the intersection after the street racers had mostly dispersed. The motorcycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet, lay unconscious in the intersection, with Chicago police arriving very quickly, and an ambulance arriving several minutes after that.

As previously reported here in the McKinley Park News, the street racers who congregated by the hundreds in the River’s Edge and Riverside Plaza shopping mall parking lots along South Ashland Avenue had been routed by measures to control access to the property.

I am surprised there were no cops in the photos provided. Was anybody arrested?

Not that I'm aware, but we're still waiting for more information to come out. We'll likely include any updates in future reporting, especially as we connect with our 9th District community policing resources. Thanks!
My brother was the one on the motorcycle. I am looking for answers. He's in the ICU with head trauma and a finger cut off. I just want to know what happened? We didn't know until today where it happened. My brother laid in a hospital for hours unconscious by himself before his family new. How were the cops not on this. Anyone with info please reach out to me. I just need to know how my brother crashed.

I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. Our reporter on the scene did not see the accident. A woman in a McKinley Park Facebook group posted a comment that a car hit the motorcyclist, who had the right of way, but the car was not paying attention. I'm assuming that the car fled the scene if this was the case, as it looked like a car was not there afterward.
Thank you for writing me back. I really appreciate it. My brother has no memory of anything and he needed to know.
