The retail center, at 3145 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago, is co-managed with the adjoining River's Edge Plaza by Regency Centers. It is an attractive spot for retail because of the existing concentration of businesses there, said Jack Segal, a vice president at Comcast managing the Chicago region's communications.

"We like to place Xfinity Stores in areas with a large retail concentration and mix," Segal said. "If [customers] are already coming to a location to shop and conduct business, they can easily visit the Xfinity Store to check out our products and services or get help with their service."

A Dozen New Jobs

Segal said the store expects to fill around 12 new positions and is actively seeking qualified employees. "We always try to recruit from the communities where are stores are located," he said.

"Comcast is a major company," Segal said, "There are opportunities for career development and growth within the company."

Segal said the 3,200-square-foot store's features and layout will follow many of the same cues as Xfinity's other new stores in Chicago. "This size allows us to best display and demonstrate our range of products and services," Segal said.

Demonstration and Education Site

The store will include showcase and demonstration areas for mobile phone products and services, Internet access, streaming TV, and security and home automation. Xfinity customers will also be able to pay their bills and get their accounts serviced at the store, which will be open seven days a week.

"The stores give our employees the ability to demonstrate the latest Xfinity products and services and educate customers,” said Comcast Greater Chicago Region Senior Vice President John Crowley.
