The State of Illinois has released its report cards on school performance, demographics and funding, including reports for McKinley Park neighborhood elementary and middle schools.

Edward Everett Elementary School, Nathanael Greene Elementary School, Namaste Charter School and Evergreen Academy Middle School all received a breakdown of their student performance on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test, in addition to a host of other school data.

Although the Illinois report cards show some bright spots, all neighborhood schools continue to be challenged with consistently meeting or exceeding district and state percentages for English language and math performance.

Each of these neighborhood schools educates high numbers of low-income students, who comprise over 95 percent of the student body at Everett, Greene and Evergreen. Each also has large numbers of students with limited English proficiency, including over 40 percent of students at Everett, Greene and Namaste.

The report cards include a grade-by-grade breakdown of performance on the PARCC test, which uses Common Core standards to test third through eighth graders in reading and math. Neighborhood school performances were often lower than district averages, nearly always lower than the state averages, and tended to decline between the 2015-16 school year and the 2016-17 school year.

Evergreen Academy maintained their year-to-year performance better than any other neighborhood school, and its eighth graders really shined in language arts, performing better than state and district averages. Evergreen, which serves sixth through eighth graders, also posted higher-than-average numbers of 8th graders passing Algebra, beating both district and state averages.

Namaste also generated some areas of good performance, in particular English language for third and fifth through eighth graders. Namaste's math numbers remained below state averages, although better than district-wide for some grades.
