The McKinley Park neighborhood begins its celebration of fall this week with a number of Halloween events for every type of fan of the season. Next Sunday, October 21, the Howl-o-Ween Parade and Costume Contest calls pet lovers and their pooches to McKinley Park for a parade through the park starting at noon. Kids and bike afcionados get their turn at 1:15 p.m. for the Kidical Mass costumed cruise around the park. Both events dovetail off the McKinley Park Farmers Market, running 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for one of its last stands of the season.

Adult Halloween fun finds a home on Saturday, October 20, at the Boos and Brews party at One City Tap, hosted by Villapalooza and featuring a costume contest and raffles, with music by DJ Greedy. Adult fans of fantastic food and beverages — and music — should look to the Liquid Dreams Festival on Sunday, October 21, at Marz Community Brewing Company, which is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of its tap room.

An effective way to both contribute to the community and network with neighbors is to help out at the McKinley Park Stewardship Day on the morning of Saturday, October 20, at McKinley Park. This session will focus on some essential updates to the new natural area on the east end of the park.

Neighborhood nightlife regularly finds a home at Jazz on Marz with the Jazzeros on Wednesday, October 17, at Marz Brewing, featuring live performance as part of a standing music residency. Marz also hosts DJ La Gata on Friday, October 19, and Maria TZ on Saturday, October 20. One City Tap presents its recurring Loteria Night on Tuesday, October 16, and the weekly Karaoke Night on Friday, October 19.

Kids can get creative this week at the McKinley Park public library, including at LEGO at the Library on Tuesday, October 17, Exploratorium on Wednesday, October 17, and Creation Station on Thursday, October 18.
