Ramirez Inaugurated as 12th Ward Alderwoman at William McKinley Memorial
Julia Ramirez accepted her inauguration as alderwoman of Chicago's 12th Ward at a ceremony on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the William McKinley Memorial in McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Road, Chicago.
"I stand before you still in awe that I am your elected official," Ramirez said.
The 12th Ward covers the green area of the McKinley Park neighborhood map."I will work for this city with dignity and pride," she said.
12th Ward Participatory Budgeting
The inauguration featured music performances by Griselda Barajas and Jose Alfredo. Judge Perla Tirado administered Ramirez's oath of office.
Ramirez thanked her supporters and announced that "for the first time, we will have participatory budgeting" in the 12th Ward.
New 12th Ward Office
Ramirez's Chief of Staff Billy Drew led the ceremonies and announced community services being open as of day one of her new administration.
