The Chicago Police Department’s 9th District issued a community alert regarding a rash of burglaries in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood during January 2024.
The burglaries involve offenders who flee in a Toyota Tundra — possibly silver in color — after they break in and and steal property from local homes, the alert said.
Linked burglaries include a break-in at 2:07 p.m. on Friday, January 12, in the 3300 block of South Damen Avenue; a theft at 6:27 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, in the 1800 bock of West 34th Street; a burglary at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, January 22, in the 3500 block of South Hoyne Avenue; and another at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, in the 3200 block of South Leavitt Avenue.
Video Surveillance Requested
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department’s Area One Bureau of Detectives by calling (312) 747-8384. The police reference number for the related burglaries is P24-1-017.
In addition to recommending that residents secure their properties, police asked for anyone with relevant video surveillance to retain a copy for investigating detectives.
They also recommended that any victims of burglaries not touch anything upon discovery of the crime, and call police immediately. Get contact information from any witnesses, too, police said.
The next Chicago Police Meeting for Beat 912 is set for 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the McKinley Park field house.
