The McKinley Park Civic Association enjoyed a meal and sweet treats thanks to 12th Ward Alderwoman Julia Ramirez, who hosted a senior Valentine's Day party following the group's regular February meeting.
After the meeting on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, members tucked into a meal provided by the 12th Ward from the New Archview Restaurant, plus a table-load of treats, including some special chocolate concoctions from the nascent Cardinho Bakery and its proprietor, Alejandra Rivera.
Ramirez and her staff also brought art supplies to create Valentine's Day crafts during the party.
The association, which meets most months of the year at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library, will not be meeting in March due to early voting taking place there. The next McKinley Park Civic Association Meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the library, 1915 W. 35th St., Chicago.
Banquet on April 21
Association President Agnes Bednarkiewicz reminded meeting attendees that the McKinley Park Civic Association Banquet and Awards is set for Sunday, April 21, 2024, again at the church hall of Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3745 S. Paulina St., Chicago.
Information about ticket sales for the banquet will be announced soon, said association Vice President Sue Pletsch.
Another big 2024 event for the McKinley Park Civic Association is its annual Memorial Day Parade, which Bednarkiewicz confirmed would take place on Monday, May 27, 2024.
