Horizon Science Academy - McKinley Park is the best charter high school in Illinois, according to the 2024 school assessments and recognition issued by U.S. News and World Report.
Horizon Science Academy - McKinley Park Principal Seat Vedziovski welcomes families to the 10th annual International Gala Night on May 15, 2024.The school, operating at 2245 W. Pershing Road in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood, boasted a 65 percent participation rate in Advanced Placement courses among a 96 percent minority student body. The awards ranked Horizon Science Academy - McKinley Park No. 57 among all Illinois high schools.
“We are beyond delighted,” wrote Horizon Science Academy Principal Seat Vedziovski. “This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to the unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment of our students, staff, families and community members.”
Ivy Leagues

Mersad Imamovic, assistant principal of school culture, shared that senior Havilyn Aitken is planning to head to Princeton University on a full-ride scholarship.
As previously reported here in the McKinley Park News, the Illinois Network of Charter Schools named Aitken one of the top charter high school students statewide in its 2023 Charter School Excellence Awards.
International Gala Night

Vedziovski noted how the wide variety of Horizon students and their families strengthened the school. “Tonight we celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that bring us all together,” he said.
Bridgeport Expansion

In addition to performances by Horizon student musicians and dance groups, the hundreds of attendees at International Dinner Night enjoyed dance from Emma Mae’s SunRays Studios and Flor de Corazon, live music from AfriCaribe and Chinese dragon acrobatics.
