The McKinley Park Civic Association celebrated the winners of its inaugural holiday decorating contest for Chicago's McKinley park neighborhood at its meeting on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library.
Association President Chris Bania announced the winners and honorable mentions, including:
- 1st Place: The Torres Family
- 2nd Place: Angela Martinez Dueñas
- 3rd Place: The Vargas Family
- Honorable Mention: Elizabeth Luna
- Honorable Mention: The Pletsch Family
Bania noted how this is the association's first-ever holiday decorating contest, which received many submissions. He said the contest will continue annually, with the next decorating contest planned for the 2026 holiday season.
Summer Gardening Contest
The association also plans to present a neighborhood gardening contest this summer, Bania said.
In addition to conducting association business at the meeting, Bania reminded attendees of upcoming meetings and association events, including Chicago's Birthday Party on March 4, 2026, and the to-be-scheduled annual educators banquet in the spring.
The next McKinley Park Civic Association Meeting takes place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the McKinley Park public library.
