Chicago's McKinley Park neighborhood remembered veterans, their work and sacrifice in the U.S. Armed Forces at the annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Produced and hosted by William McKinley American Legion Post 231 and the McKinley Park Civic Association, the annual parade wound through the neighborhood, starting at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library and ending at the post headquarters, both on West 35th Street.

Numerous neighborhood groups and residents marched, including schools, churches, elected officials and the Omega Delta Youth Baseball and Softball League. Antique cars and a motorcycle club bookended the parade.

Anthem and Speakers

The ceremony at the post included thanks and remembrances led by post Commander Patrick McGuire, as well as the National Anthem performed by Gianna Porcelli.

The post color guard presented a gun salute followed by Taps. Speakers included Cook County 7th District Commissioner Alma Anaya, Illinois 24th District State Representative Theresa Mah and 12th Ward Alderwoman Julia Ramirez.
