FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO, September 22, 2020 – The McKinley Park News, a micro-local online news and events publication serving the McKinley Park neighborhood of Chicago, has joined the Chicago Independent Media Alliance (CIMA), founded in 2019 by the Chicago Reader to enable editorial and business partnerships in local media.
With more than 40 members in CIMA, the McKinley Park News joins a group of local publishers of Chicago media outlets like the Chicago Reader, La Raza Newspaper, the South Side Weekly, the Chicago Crusader, City Bureau, Newcity, the Better Government Association and many others.
“We are very happy to be a part of CIMA and honored to be invited to join,” said McKinley Park News Publisher Justin Kerr. “We look forward to opportunities for working together to help our city’s leading independent publications.”
CIMA consists of both for-profit commercial news outlets like the McKinley Park News and publications following a not-for-profit model. In summer 2020, CIMA hosted a joint fund-raiser to benefit its members as one of its first large collaborations.
CIMA is supported by the Crossroads Fund, the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, the Joseph & Bessie Feinberg Foundation, the Lloyd A. Fry Foundation and The Joyce Foundation.
