Hispanic Heritage at Arturo Velasquez

The nearby Arturo Velasquez Institute at 2800 S. Western Ave., Chicago, announced its Hispanic Heritage Month festivities, including a big event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021.

Ballet Folklorico from La Academia, a Mexican dance academy, will perform starting around 11 a.m.  Música y Cuento from Son Chiquitos will precede them, starting their performance at 10:30 a.m.

Event activities also include:
  • Giveaways and food samples from Jewel-Osco
  • Traditional tamales and champurrado for sale by Manolos Tamales
  • A Loteria game table featuring Mi Loteria from Chicago Latina Moms, who will also offer community resources, family programming, networking and opportunities for professional and personal development
  • Cool prizes and movie swag giveaways from LatinoScoop
  • Gifts from the Liam Diaper Pop-up, including free diapers, baby wipes and other essentials
  • Legal information, resources and referrals for immigration, citizenship and housing from Northern Illinois Justice for our Neighbors
