I had the pleasure of meeting writer and photographer Arthur Maiorella of Block Club Chicago at Chicago's Birthday Party on March 4, 2026, at the city's geographic center at 37th and Honore streets.

Thanks to Maiorella for his glowing write-up of the event, "Chicagoans Celebrate City's 189th Birthday With Bash in McKinley Park," and his photos of the action, including Captain Chicago rallying the crowd and the service of Chicago-style hot dogs.

I was taking event photos alongside Maiorella, and one of the biggest challenges was shooting with hot dog steam wafting across the stage during performances. Smelled great, though!
