12th Ward Alderman George Cardenas was nice enough to share some helpful information for neighbors who want to host a block party this summer.
The first step involves contacting the alderman's office:
  • For Cardenas, who represents most of the McKinley Park neighborhood, the ward office phone number is (773) 523-8250.
  • For 25th Ward Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez , who represents blocks on the north end of the McKinley Park neighborhood, the ward office phone number is (773) 523-4100.
The block party permit process involves filling out a City of Chicago application that provides details on the block party, which will then be reviewed and approved by the ward office, and submitted to the city so it can be reviewed and approved by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT).

Review all the information and requirements for hosting a block party, and access the application form, at the Block Party Permit page on the City of Chicago website at 311.chicago.gov/s/article/Block-party-permit-information .
