Hackers from THOTCON are partnering with the McKinley Park public library to host Cyber Security Action Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 13. Learn the best practices for protecting yourself online via one-on-one sessions with top cyber security experts.

Create art and learn about community environmental health at #Create #Collaborate #Mobilize on Monday, October 8, at the McKinley Community Play Garden. The Mobilize Creative Collaborative joins members from Neighbors for Environmental Justice and local kids, friends and community members to create visual art, music, toys and signs.

The McKinley Park Advisory Council Meeting takes place at One City Tap this Monday, October 8, since the normal venue of the McKinley Park field house is closed for Indigenous People's Day. Join council leaders and members while tipping one back and discussing updates and plans for the neighborhood's huge and dynamic McKinley Park.

Marz Community Brewing Company holds the lead on neighborhood nightlife this week, starting with Jazz on Marz with The Jazzeros on Wednesday night, October 10, part of the ongoing jazz residency of three experimental musicians. Then, the DJ collective Sonorama brings their astonishingly cool retro Latin beats to the Marz tap room on Friday, October, 12, followed by DJ Fanita Banana on Saturday, October 13.

Aquinas Literacy Center provides essential English language learning for neighborhood immigrants. Their English Literacy Tutor Training this Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, lets volunteers get certified as tutors and then engage in one-on-one training with local English learners.

McKinley Park has one of the Chicago Park District's leading local gymnastic programs, and the Gymnastics Showcase on Friday, October 12, lets neighborhood gymnasts strut their stuff for their fans and families from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the field house.

The best place to get the scoop on neighborhood crime and safety is the monthly CAPS Meeting for Beat 912, held on Wednesday, October 10, at the St. Maurice Church Hall. Connect with Beat 912 and participate in one of the most well-attended CAPS groups in Chicago.

Belt out your favorite tunes at Karaoke Night, Friday, October 12, at One City Tap. DJ Angel again leads the singing stand-up at this weekly event.

The Hoyne Park Advisory Council Meeting is slated for Thursday, October 11, at the Hoyne Park field house. The council is taking the lead on continually improving the charming Hoyne Park, and they are always looking for more volunteers and neighborhood leaders to help out.

This Sunday, October 14, is one of your last chances to pick up fresh produce and locally made food and goods at the McKinley Park Farmers Market. Join shoppers, community members and the McKinley Park Advisory Council volunteers who run the market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next to the William McKinley memorial in McKinley Park.
