Kids, Adults and Families Can All Step Out This Week in McKinley Park

This week the McKinley Park neighborhood hosts a pile of great events for every age across a range of interests and activities. The McKinley Park Advisory Council Meeting kicks off the week on Monday, November 11, with planning for the park and quaffing some beers at One City Tap (since the park field house is closed for Veterans Day). Return to One City Tap the next night, on Tuesday, November 13, for Otro Ritmo: South Side Punk Night, which features live performances by Staring Problem and Product KF.

Families and kids see event options kicking off at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library on Tuesday, November 13, with LEGO at the Library, followed by games and crafts at Family Night on Wednesday, November 14. On Saturday, November 17, the library celebrates Native American Heritage Month with the Beyond Standing Rock Film ScreeningCreation Station on Thursday, November 15, lets kids 3 and up make some art and crafts.

Get engaged with the community at one of the many civic events this week, including the McKinley Park Stewardship Day on Saturday, November 17, when neighbors join members of the McKinley Park Advisory Council for a park clean-up. The CAPS Meeting for Beat 912 is one of the most well-attended in the city, and on Wednesday, November 14, will be the best place to connect with the Chicago Police Department about neighborhood crime. The Evergreen Local School Council Meeting on Wednesday morning, November 14, affords oversight of funding and administration at the neighborhood's local middle school.

Marz Community Brewing Co. hosts the Super Smash Bros. Tournament on Thursday night, November 15, offering prizes and the title of Best Smasher in the Midwest. Jazz on Marz with the Jazzeros continues its weekly residency at Marz with performance on Wednesday, November 14. DJ Merrick Brown spins at Marz on Friday, November 16, followed by a session with Fanita Banana on Saturday, November 17.

Local aldermanic candidate Pete DeMay hosts his Pete for the 12th Fund-raiser on Wednesday night, November 14, at One City Tap. Also at One City Tap on Friday, November 16, is its weekly Karaoke Night.
