The McKinley Park neighborhood enjoyed its annual Memorial Day celebrations and observances on Monday, May 27, 2019. Hosted by the McKinley Park Civic Association and the William McKinley American Legion Post 231, the event included a parade kicking off in the morning from the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library.
Parade participants spanned neighborhood organizations and included past parade favorites like the award-winning Thomas Kelly High School Marching Band. At the end of the parade route, marchers, veterans, public officials and neighbors gathered at the American Legion post to honor our nation's veterans with a ceremony and remembrance.
