I am a longtime professional journalist and communicator who recently retired and bought a three-flat in McKinley Park to share with my daughter, her fiancé and some friends. My wife and I moved here just before the March 2020 pandemic lockdown, so we still are looking forward to exploring and enjoying all McKinley Park has to offer.

I was very pleased to learn of the McKinley Park News and how Publisher Justin Kerr was trying to inform his neighbors about life here. I contacted Justin to see how I could help, and now here I am.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Penn State, and an MBA in Marketing from Roosevelt University. I came to Chicago to work for the Chicago Sun-Times, and then was an editor for many years with American Medical News, a weekly newspaper for physician. At AMNews, which was published by the American Medical Association, I was part of a team that won a Peter Lisagor Award in Journalism for Public Service.

I also worked for the AMA as Director of Physician and Employee Communications. Before retirement I served as Chief of Staff for 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore in Rogers Park.

While living in Rogers Park, I took on a number of fulfilling volunteer roles, including serving as board president for a non-profit economic development corporation and chair of the alderman’s zoning advisory committee. I also was a CAPS beat leader for 18 years.

I look forward to meeting and serving my new neighbors in McKinley Park. Let us know how we’re doing!
