The Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC) unites the resources of member organizations and individual members to empower Chinese American communities in Greater Chicago. As a coalition of member organizations and individuals, CBCAC carries out its mission through civic education, issue advocacy, communication with policy makers, and community mobilization.

The population of Chicago's greater Chinatown community has spread beyond Chinatown and the Armour Square Community Area to many nearby neighborhoods, including McKinley Park, Bridgeport, Brighton Park, Douglas and the South Loop. The CBCAC impacts this diverse community that shares Chinese ethnicity through programs, outreach and planning.

CBCAC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that has successfully conducted projects such as:

  • Chinese language and legislation advocacy
  • Census and voting registration drives
  • Infrastructure improvements like the new Chinatown branch library and Cermak Red Line El station rebuild 
  • Community and volunteer mobilization efforts
